I am shopping for an exterior fiberglass door.?
And I am wondering if the Pella which is about $400 plus more than the door at Home Depot- Feather River brand is worth the extra money. Thanks.
The price difference is for two reasons
1-Pella makes a better door, for quality, performance, etc.
2-you pay for the Pella name
I’ve heard that Feather River doors are of poor quality, but for most people they will perform just fine.
I’ve also heard from many people that a Pella or Masonite door that you get from Home Depot and Lowe’s is lower quality than a Pella or Masonite door that you get from a local millwork supplier. That’s how HD and Lowe’s can sell it so cheap and still make a profit.
At the end of the day, get the door your really like. For $400 you don’t want to come home every day and say, “It’s nice, but I liked that other door better”. Nobody will ever ask how much it cost (but they will remark about its beauty), and over it’s 15 year lifetime it’s not that much more.
