How do I fix the draft in my patio door?

My sliding patio door has a draft between the stationary portion and the sliding portion when it is closed. When it is windy snow and/or rain will come through this space as well. I tried some weather stripping, but because it slides the adhesive has worn off. Does anyone know of a solution, or a different type of weatherstripping made for this issue? I have had no luck at hardware stores.

It is difficult, if not impossible to purchase off the shelf to re do weather stripping on the patio door.

See if you can find out the make of door from either construction drawing or going to Lowes, Menards, or Home Depot and try to identify the door. Could be Anderson, Pella, or about 10 others. If you can Order EXACT REPLACEMENT SEALS They cost about $25. I have an Anderson patio doors and they warranty those for 20 years and so far, I think Pella also has a 20 year warranty.

The second answer I have for you is to go out and buy a Patio Storm door. Those install right over the outside frame of the patio door with about 20 screws. Easy to do. I have 4 patio door each has a storm door. It will totally eliminate drafts as they are very tight seals around the storm door.

They cost around $129 to 169 each depending on width of the door. I would not be without them since once installed, the patio door, worth about a $1000 is also protected from the weather and will last literally 50 years, and not rot out.
