How can I fix the lock on my sliding glass door?

it used to lock, but now it won’t. I just opened it and when I tried to lock it as always, it wouldn’t lock
Would a picture help? I can take pictures.

You have not provided enough details for a positive answer to be given. One would have to know exactly what was broken about the lock in order for an answer to be formulated. However, in lieu of an answer to to question, let me suggest this temporary fix. Measure the distance from the back of the half that slides to the back of the frame. This should be done with the door closed and should be around 36 inches. Be precise. Take the number of the measurement, add 1/8 inch to that. Go to your local hardware store and tell them you need a 1 1/4 inch diameter wooden closet rod in that length.. Place the closet rod into the measured opening, as close to half way ,from the top to the bottom, as possible . You may need to apply a slight amount of pressure to the higher end of the rod to make it snug up tight. You now have a temporary locking device that will also serve as a secondary lock after the primary lock is repaired
