How can I get my Mercedes started?

My 1981 Mercedes 380sl has been sitting in the garage for a year. A friend said he would start it up once in a while, but I’m not sure he did. Anyway, I can’t get it to turn over. The battery’s OK. Any suggestions.

1. Check the gas in the tank. The gas may have evaporated over a year’s time, or you may need to drain the tank & refuel with fresh gas.
2.Check the alternator. Also check to see if the starter is good.
3.The solenoid in the starter may be shot.
4. Charge the battery; it may be good; but weak.
5. Check all lines & hoses to make sure they are in good working condition & no breaks or dry rotted places.
6. Check all belts & pulleys to make sure they are in good working order also.
7. If it is a straight shift; depress clutch & put gear in first. If it is automatic check to make sure gear is in Park.
