Right near the front door – i expect wet shoes and umbrellas.

I would suggest you go with a different flooring for an entrance. Laminate will swell with wet/dampness, and need replacing. A good floating floor would be TrafficMaster Allure vinyl flooring is sturdy and installs easily. You could go with a tile, or even a nice vinyl sheeting. Stay away from the laminate. A word for the wise….if you are choosing tile, then please choose one that will feel rough so it will not be slippery as ice when wet/damp.
